+1 I had one fo these and it was great. Well actually I had 2 from their infamous 'iffy glue batch' and the both fell apart, but ones not from the affected batch are just about perfect.

I imagine you can safely try a Burma shave boar (about $5).

So what if you don't like it - use the hairs for HHT, if you must (caveat - I'd rather use finer hair if available for HHT).

I am not kidding - it is a good brush. Ugly but works. For the record, Lynn also used it in one of the videos! (the suggestion for Rooney small Finest, also used by Lynn, is great - if $200 is not an issue for you) Lynn also likes the big Chubby 3 in Super - even more expensive.

I have a Plisson HMW but the other day I used the Burma again and got great results.

    Cheers

I've been using my Rooney style 1 small in Finest for about a week now and I have to say this is a great little soap brush. These bristles are in a league of their own compared to other brushes I've tried. They are super stiff, but extremely soft in the tips. This brush feels just great on your face and is very precise in applying the lather.

At first I was a little concerned because my lather wasn't getting as "fluffy" as it does with my other brushes - it was a little flat. The brush was so dense and stiff that not much air was getting into the lather. After 3 or 4 uses though, the brush has bloomed out a little and I'm getting excellent lather. I'd say my soap brush quest is over.

I'm sure the other brushes mentioned here do very well also. The Rooney is expensive, but the Finest bristles are a real treat. After all, this never was about "need" - if you know what I mean. Thanks for the recommendation MP!!

Oh, and thanks to Jim at Vintage Blades for the great service. Prompt shipping and a hand written thank you note. Can't ask for anymore than that.

I have Chubby 1 in best and Chubby 2 in super. Both are great for soaps. I find best little too scrubby so prefer large chubby 2 for every day. Quality is a concern but if you buy from a reputable place, you should be good.
