Thanked: 28Omega boar hair brushes
I have a Omega watch and its great same one as James Bond wears. Anyhow I will get to the important stuff.
I was looking at a site and they had some omega boar hair brushes for sale at a very good price. They seemed to be of high quality and had good reviews attached to them.
I have a rooney best badger that I bough 3 years ago so it is about time to buy some new brushes. I thought I may buy 2 of these and another badger hair brush. I can always find some use for the brushes. I have a few cheap wall mart ones that I use to wash my face with.
Has anyone ever bought or used boar hair brushes , and if so what do you think of them? I have also seen horse hair and synthetic brushes. Any help would be great.

I am guilty..My first brush was a cheap boar and over the years, i have gotten to the point of buying boar when I find a good deal. Chinese, Turkish(shhhh!), English, French. and we won't go there.
I do use a couple of my Badger brushes and have nothing against the material. In fact, it is a better material for brushes because the knot does not, in my experience, swell when really soaked. That saves the brush handle from cracking.
YMMV

Thanked: 28I hear you Geezer. I never found such fun stuff to buy and try as shaving stuff. I am getting worried if my manly men at work find out about my obsession and interest. I think they know something is up with the perfect shave and grooming and lets not forget the faseturbation and great smell I posses now.

Thanked: 3225Yes, I use boar brushes as well as badger and synthetics. I like the inexpensive Omega 10066. The boars have to be well broken in before they shine, about 2 weeks of every day use should do that.
My favourites are synthetic knots but they need a different technique when loading and lathering. Badger brushes are nice too in the better grades, Like them all really for different reasons.

As far as the co-workers and manly men goes, you are shaving with a straight razor, what is more manly than that?Stefan

If you like Boar brushes, (I prefer them to Badger, some people don't) Omega are a great brush.

I've not tried many brushes - having a quirk about the prices of a good badger. 'Seems like romancing the canine to me. So I'm a boar guy. 'tried the 00066 Omega - alright. I tend to like the Semogue 620 best of the new production. My fav. is an ancient Canadian "Mohawk" that I got NOS as a gift. It always delivers the goods. I've had curiosity about the more recent offerings in synthetic, but their prices for an easily mass produced brush triggers my inner scrooge also. Bang for the buck - its really hard to beat Omega or Semogue.

I prefer boar brushes and agree with pinklather that you can't beat an Omega or Semogue. Both are great once they get broken in.

Thanked: 55Agree on semogue, my favourite brush is the 1305 boar with the 2010 badger a very close second.
