Vie-long horsehair
I saw a Vie-long horsehair brush today, picked it up, felt the bristles, the weight....really liked the brush. I was wondering about the ferrule though. Does anyone have some longevity comments on this metal? Is it chromed steel?
I don't like rust anywhere in the (cough) shave den. I'm hoping this brush has passed the acid test of time.
Looks like this:

I doubt it is steel, Bill. Stick a magnet to it? probably an alloy which has been chromed?
I really like my Vie Long Horsehair. It has a standard plastic handle."Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Thanked: 4207Fret not, Sir William. Grab the Spanish acquisition.
Mine's been in active duty 2 years come tomorrow! Looks like this still, left in the humid bathroom 24/7.
Only horse hair I own. I too like the weight of the knurl and wager it's either aluminum, or cast white metal. Non magnetic for certain.
A nice brush, little 'moppy' but doesn't throw lather.

Oh man, moppy
probably a deal breaker
My badger is the only mop I need. I thought this might be between my badger and my marvelously stiff boar...sniff."Call me Ishmael"

Thanked: 4207YMMV.
It is certainly between the two. Stiffer than badger and not a boar."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Any brush with too much water will become a mop, Bill. Different types need different loading techniques.
I used my Vie Long Horse this morning. Just enough water added. A lovely face lather, slightly scritchy and extremely effective!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."

No, it is a re-handle, yet not a reknot! Tried too late to get a Halloween thing going last year.
This will explain! (I hope!)
