As an aside, a Whipped Dog Silvertip is most definitely not the best bang for the buck for someone wanting to try a silvertip. A Frank Shaving might be. At least, you get you what pay for, not something bulk imported with a 1-300% markup.

For brushes being sold new now that's pretty much right but the Manchurians are very different than most basic silvertips and if you are looking at brushes like the classic Rooney Finest 2 banders those are very different than any silvertip I've ever seen.
