Thanked: 4200Update after a 8-10% H2O2 soak and some deep fiber combing with a long tined brass brush I have.
That little spot of rust is the only stain not to come out. Seems to have leeched into the bristles some.
But aside from that, it cleaned up very nicely.
So much so I decided to try the lather and fling test.
Challengers are Thater 4125, #3, and a VC silver tip, also 25 mm.
Dunked each in a sink of hot water, squeezed out equally, 20 swirls in Cyril Salter, Skuttle lather, adding water as required to each to get to where I like em.
Wet face and lathered each with vigor. No fling at all. Granted the boar felt very different as its so tall, but not as scratchy as I expected. Even pulled a little brush slapping across the chin action hither and fro and still no fling.
Rinsed my face between goes as well.
So IMO, and having only tried the lather test once, it would be worth leaving the boar installed.
I will proceed to goat's azz gleam on the aluminium handle and you should try it out.
We can always go down the badger or retrofit road later, but it's only original once.
Is the softest boar I've ever tried personally. My other one is a much shorter loft which makes all the difference I think.
Review concluded..
