    Default delatherizer

When I first started using a straight I rinsed my blades, until I chipped one of my favorites during a momentary lapse of concentration. Then I switched to wiping my blades down on a towel, which has worked great, no chips for over a year, but the towel is quite unsightly and must be washed every few days or it gets unpleasantly crusty. I recently bought a rubber razor wiping bowl from honedright's ebay store and was quite pleased with it this morning. The soft rim protects the blade and the cup holds the spent lather and mulch until you're done shaving, whereupon you simply rinse it out. It's not the most attractive thing around - it's a ghastly orangey color - but I keep mine under the sink until I need it, so the wife doesn't really mind.

    Highly recommended.

    mparker,

I saw this device and thought it was a workable idea and probably worth buying. Thanks for reporting your good success in using it. I can now in much better conscience watch some change, change hands.

    thanks, Bruce

    thanks for the tip, Michael

I also chipped a razor I liked... more than once and I also use a towel or a napkin lately.

I should probably try this thing

    Cheers

    Michael,

I am still thinking about this - doesn't the wiping somehow dull the edge? Or doesn't the edge cut the rubber? Just seems too good, there must be a catch?

    Cheers

Yeah, it's a very ugly orange color, and I went to the wrong university for that.

    Hey guys,

Yes, I was a little taken-a-back by the color too, but...that's the only color available. I'd prefer black, maybe a marbled cream and brown, even straight red. But orange?? Oh well...

As far as dulling the edge, the cleaner is made from a flexible rubber material. If used correctly, it's not likely to dull your edge. And if the razor is wiped directly away from the edge, back leading, it should not catch, nor cut, into the cleaner.

The catch? It takes some practice to use. It will remove most of the lather from your blade eliminating the need to repeatedly rinse under the faucet while shaving. Of course that is one of the things that often causes a chipped blade. At the end of your shave you may still need to use your thumb, or something else, to completely remove the last traces of lather from your blade.

    And, Ruckeriii, you're close, it's a TI .

    Scott
