    Default My mug pic's

Here are my two mugs at the moment. One is a hand thrown piece I got off Ebite. The other is one of many frog mugs I have hanging around.

What else is out there in the makeshift mug area ??

    Default Here's mine

I didn't do it though. Scott (honedright) did it. I think it came out great, although the picture doesn't so it justice.

I got 2 mugs which I rotate as the soap wears out. One is a green pottery mug I bought off of ebay and the other is actually a tin coffee mug I got in Waco, TX at the Texas Ranger museum. I have a soft spot in my heart for tin mugs for some reason. The third is a monogrammed scuttle I bought from Classic Shaving.com .
I use the scuttle in the winter months when a steaming hot shave feels the best and the mugs for the summer when a tap water hot shave suffices.

While we're on the subject can anybody explain this mug. I got it off ebay as a shaving mug and I bought it cause it's pretty. The shape is oblong and shaving soap will fit if you place it in sideways, I suspect it's something else. A badger hair brush will not fit in the resovoir at the front. I don't know what it is but sucker me bought it anyways.

I myself use a 99p coffee cup from Tescos ;-)

I believe it does the job if not better than some of the shallow purpose built shaving mugs.

I use an oversize tea cup. It is about the size of a bowl, with a handle. Its quite thick and holds the heat the best out of everything I have tried. I do have a pestle and mortar that my mum didn't want. Maybe it will work well, I'll have to try it some time. It looks a bit better than my bright yellow tea cup as it is brilliant white and fits in with bathroom decor quite well.

The Burt's Bees mug I got four years ago as a valentines gift (along with a brush and cream). The rest are recent eBay acquisitions (I've developed a scuttle fetish). I should note that the soaps are out of date here...The "tree trunk" scuttle now holds my Classic Shaving sandalwood, the Blue Willow scuttle has a re-shaped sample of TGQ Leatherneck, and the Burt's Bees mug remains empty, so that I can use it both for soap (TGQ oak & moss that I melted into a small custard dish) and for witch hazel. The scuttle on the top left still has the same Classic Shaving fresh lime soap. I'd have more, but I'm out of counter space. Well, that and the whole food/rent/tuition/art supplies thing...

Default My mug (for shaving, that is)

I use only one mug: the one made by hand by my daughter on a potter's wheel--hand painted and baked. It was a father's day gift.

Just picked this one up off eBay. The insert looks like metal but it's actually some kind of ceramic. The leather cover is conical so the middle part hangs inside without contacting the edge. I guess the idea was insulation...to keep your palm (and the air) away from the outer surface and keep your beer cold. The same principle would apply to keeping lather warm.

I got a couple of those Old Spice mugs off eBay (from the 40s). They're pretty cool.
