Default Simpsons Manchurian .. What's the fuss?

I'm considering my last brush. I love the M7 handle, but believe it to be no longer in production. In any case, I've always held Simpsons Two Band Super hair in very high regard. My brushes with this hair do everything I ask of them and more.
I see Manchurian Badger hair around. For those that have used it, does it live up the the highly vaunted image that has surrounded it? Can you compare it's traits to the traditional Two Band Super at equal lofts and diameters?

I have the m7, bought it on black Friday, in manchurian. I like it a lot, but I don't have any other simpson badger, so I can't compare it. I like it a lot, but I've found once you get into dense silver tip of good quality, they all are good. I've only used mine a handful of times because I have a morris & forndran and harrywally custom with wsp high mountain white. It has the faux marble handle. If you look for the thread simpson black Friday sale, you can see it.

I have Ch3 manchurian, and it beats anything else in terms of backbone with soft tips combo.
I am pretty sure Simpson makes M7 handles with Manchurian hair
They posted two of them today on their FB page

I have several brushes with the classic vintage two band hair and I have a few Manchurians.

The fact is the old two band is unique and there is nothing like it period. Having said that the Manchurian is the closest you're going to get. It has the backbone and a bit of the scratch and I like it and think it's about the best hair out there these days. The Thater, to me, seems to be the same stuff though they don't claim that.

I have 1 Simpsons brush with a Manchurian knot, a QEII Jubilee. Very nice 2 band badger knot with soft tips and good backbone. I just had Shavemac make a custom brush for me in their 2 band silvertip and I like it as much as the Manchurian. It too has soft tips and good backbone. I am not so sure I would cough up the money for another Simpsons Manchurian now that I have had the Shavemac.

I have an old Simpsons Polo 10 that's labelled Super Badger, what's the difference between the super badger and Manchurian? I've also looked at a Manchurian knot but figured I should save something for next year, or next month....

Well, tell you what, price out a Simpsons Manchurian brush then price the same size Shavemac 2 band silvertip brush with the same size knots and similar handles. Neither are exactly cheap and both should be excellent quality but there should be a big price differential.

Simpsons have Manchurian brushes listed here: Simpson Shaving Brushes: Products: Limited Edition Brushes

I have a chubby 2 Manchurian and I have a chubby 2 in super. The Manchurian is denser but it has a little scritch to it. The chubby 2 also dense but not as dense as a Manchurian but the tips are much softer and still has good backbone. In this case it really depends your preferences are. May this be helpful to you

It depends on the batch of hair. The current crop of Manchurian knots from Simpson is buttery smooth, whereas older knots have some scritch to them. They both have plenty of backbone. I own both kinds and love them equally.
