Default Shavemac vs Muhle Silvertip Brushes

    Hello,

Can any of you experts give me your opinions of the top of the line Shavemac 23mm Silver Badger vs the
    Muehle-Pinsel Silver Badger Shaving Brush?

Here is a link to this brush:
    http://www.nashvilleknifeshop.com/musibashbrbu.html

It is real Indian Buffalo horn with a 23mm Silvertip bristle.

    Thank you,
    Mike

    Here are my 2 cents

If you like a high density brush with very soft tips I would recommend the Shavemac

on the other hand if you prefer a medium density brush go for the MP.

Personally it seems that the shavemacs have a better reputation... I would definitely recommend the Shavemac

    try http://www.vintagebladesllc.com for shavemacs

Jim is an excellent vendor and he will be of great help to you.

FWIW the brush in that link is a 21mm knot.

I have no personal experience with the shavemac but that's one of my future purchases i'm saving for. they seem to have a good reputation for being soft but not floppy. The handmade shavemacs have the lightbuld shape, i don't know the advantage but i bet there is one. if anything it looks nicer

I've never tried a shavmac, but I do have a 21mm Muhle ST. Its a very nice brush for creams. I like a firmer brush for soaps. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Both are good values.

    This post really helped, huh?

They say that the advantage is that the shorter bristles surrounding the longer center hairs provide support and yield a soft, high loft brush without the "splay" of fan shaped brushes. I have a Vulfix Super, an Omega Boar and a Simpson Polo #8 in Best - but the Shavemac is next on the acquisition list ! BTW I have also heard very nice things about the MPs and have really enjoyed their website, too. Both seem to be exceptional values. Both offer custom brushes, too (heard that the SMs arrive from Germany in about a week ) Good Luck - Tough Decision! Read: Buy Both and tell us which one you prefer!!
