Thanked: 1Anyone use a coffee cup warmer?
Sure it may kill you or burn your home down too close to the sink, but I'll give this a try.
I got a spare, those things are cheap.
Might double as a nice air freshener or oderizer in addition to making for a warm lather.
(I'm familiar with the Moss Scuttle, I was thinking more along the lines of stupid)

Thanked: 1Well that worked out nicely.
Of course it's got its limits, one being you can't use a cup with a bottom too big and you may then limit your puck size for soaps, but the result I was looking for is there. If you're too cheap to try the moss scuttle, give it a shot.
Plus, I found some old scented soaps I had gotten at a bed and breakfast make for superb shaving lathers in the process, it's been a good day.
edit: Looks like Josh beat me to it. Anyhow...it's better to keep the soap out and just get some on the brush to lather in the cup.Last edited by Friggin Joe; 06-13-2007 at 07:16 PM.

I tried one and it got too hot to be of any use soap started to melt. It would work with a scuttle if you find one to fit, then it will keep the water hot without melting the soap.

Ever since my last water heater busted, I haven't set my new home water heater to the High setting, I left it on Medium. I used to heat water on the stove while I showered but later felt that an unattended pot was unsafe. So now I run clear water through my coffee brewer. The temp comes out just right for shaving and I get all the hot water I need.

I'm using a Moss scuttle these days. But over the winter, when I want things to be nice and toasty for my Saturday shave, I would use the scuttle with the coffee warmer. Overkill, sure, but it's nice to have warm lather for over an hour.

i have a hot pot and a mug warmer, the hot pot would be great if i had a scuttle and the mug warmer melts soap and breaks down the lather quickly so these day i dont use either

Yeah I bought a mug warmer. Used it all of three times before I decided it was too much hassle dragging a power lead into the bathroom just to plug a mug warmer in just for a shave.
For me it didn't really warm it up quick enough while having my shower anyways.
I had liked the idea of this double boiler which I have posted before, but I think there were issues with it being too large. And the few people that did buy them have never reported back about how successful they were, I assume silence says it all.
Cheers

the problem with a lot of these gadgets and gizmo's is they can get to hot and break down the lather or melt the soap or just not get hot enough. ive even herd over at Badgerandblade.com that the Moss scuttle can break down lather if the water is to hot.
