My Kents are floppy, but sometimes I choose a floppy brush .. usually for soft creams, where they excel. I do not use them for hard soaps, because that is not their forté. Horses for courses.
I will say this, the Kent BK series are very nice brushes, with one of my favorite handle shapes!

Agreed, mine is a fabulous brush and I initially bought it for creams and it has been used daily for a number of years. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to use creams.
It really is a classic design and their packaging really sets them apart. I just feel as though I am ready to try something new, I have switched to straights and dabbling more with soaps so it just feels like the right time.
I really like the look of the Thater brushes but I am struggling to find a retailer in the UK. I have been stung more than once recently on imports so I am not in a rush to hand anymore of my hard earned to UK Customs!
Thanks everyone for the helpful advice.Fact: Opinions are not the same as facts... Well, that's my opinion anyway

The Simpson brushes are a bit pricey if you want the Manchurian hair, which is very nice, but the Best hair is nice also. Not as stiff for hard soaps, but a good all around choice, and a great selection of classic styles.
I don't think you'll ever read a bad comment about Simpsons, and for you, they're close by!

I second my friend Celestino's suggestions. He is very right about the customizable aspect of the Shavemac brushes. You can't do better than those. A nice 2-band (not the D01 version) would be what I would suggest also.
You will pay far more for the Simpsons brushes and although they are in general a very good quality brush, you are paying for the name as well. The Chubby line of brushes in particular is one of their most expensive brushes and depending on the hair type you get, the flow through might end up being very questionable.

Thanked: 1The Simpsons chubby 2 in best badger is not to expensive (£130). It's also very dense. I have this brush and a Kent bk8. Both nice brushes but for the extra £40 the Simpsons chubby 2 is good value for money in my opinion. Kent bk8- 26mm knot, Simpsons chubby 2- mine measures 28.5mm knot and very dense by comparison to the Kent.

Thanked: 1By the way on the Simpsons website they are doing the chubby 2 Manchurian for around£225. It's normally around and eye watering £300. The handles are a bit funky though. I think brownish colours.

I was in GEO trumpet the other day. They have some very nice brushes with horn handles but as for the quality of the knot I can't say. These are not on their Web site either, I was told.
There is a German site that ordered my Thater for me. They have a serious selection.Last edited by JOB15; 01-16-2020 at 07:35 PM.

Thanked: 3225Here is another route to consider, make your own brush. If you have a handle that you like but the knot is lacking for you, remove the knot and replace it with a good 2 band badger knot.
I did this with a Simpsons Chubby 2 handle I had lying around after an unsuccessful removal of the synthetic knot to reloft it a bit higher. I ordered a Maggards 28mm SHD 2 band badger fan knot to fit it to the Chubby 2 handle. All I can say is I like this knot as much as I like my Simpsons QEII Jubilee Manchurian badger brush and my 2 custom Shavemac 2 band silvertip badger brushes.
This is the knot I used https://www.maggardrazors.com/produc...dger-fan-knot/ . Lovely soft tips the curl over slightly when dry, commonly called gel tips, good back bone and flow through. Makes a good relatively inexpensive way to enjoy an excellent 2 band badger knot.
