Thread: Is There Such A Thing As A Scritchy Thater ?

I've had a half dozen Thater brushes come and go over the years. When the SRP limited editions came out years ago I picked up a fan and a bulb. Both of those had high lofts and weren't scritchy so I sold them. I began getting various Thaters with 48-52mm lofts, 23-26mm knots.

They were wonderfully luxurious brushes, but no scritch. I got a 4125 26x49mm in a fan. Great brush but no scritch. Now that SRD is doing a Black Friday 10% deal through Monday I'm thinking of a 4125 bulb ......... in hopes that I might hit the jackpot.

Anyone ever had a scritchy Thater ? If so, which model ? Inquiring minds want to know.

That lather test was the result of a very heated brush thread, a year or two ago, I'm sure you remember it. So I put his theory to the test. I bought the same Thater that he bragged about & tested it against some of the brushes in my collection.

He was right,,, I could not beat his brush, but one of mine performed just as well.

I too have the 4125, bulb shape, and find it to be a good brush.

Thäter brushes are known for their soft tips without scritch. The brushes listed on SRP are all two or three band silvertip, although they are listed as finest, and all would have a soft tips without scritch. Thäter does make a brush in best badger, which would be scritchy, although I don't see one listed on SRP. They are listed on Fendrihan, if you wanted to take a look at one.

My Thater 4125/0 fan has no scritch, good backbone, but primarily very soft tips.....smaller handled brush, but certainly a quality brush, and very well priced in my opinion.
