My first response would have been to contact the vendor, not the manufacturer. I find it a bit strange that some people don't; if you bought a car, and it seemed to have a defect, would you not contact your dealership before going to the manufacturer?

From your OP, it sounded like your wife purchased your brush online. Many online vendors will send order confirmation email and sometimes shipping confirmations as well.

Also there will be a transaction "trail" through the financial institution that processed the payment. If it was an online purchase, this trail will be through a bank if a debit card was the payment instrument, through PayPal and then a bank if PayPal was the payment instrument, or credit card statement if that was the payment instrument.

Any transaction email from the vendor coupled with a transaction payment trail are compelling proofs of purchase and payment when receipts have gone missing.

Just goes to show that buying your products from the source s the best way to handle sales or make sure the vendor your using stands behind his product. Contacting Simpson is ok, but ultimately he didn't sell it to you. By the way their product s a great one, but anything can have a defect from time to time, and as to Laing the hairs after 5 months , this a new one n me. Are you hanging the brush bristles down?

Hope your vendor s a decent person. Tc

I do hang my brush upside down and always have. I am pleased to say that since going through the routine that Mark mentioned the shedding has subsided the brush only shed two hairs (that I noticed) when I used it today which is a big improvement.

The only other thing that I have changed in my routine, is that I moved from cream to primarily using soap. I don't think that could be a problem for the brush. I am wondering though, since this shampooing process has helped if perhaps the soap is harder to clean out than cream. Or maybe because this is without a doubt the most dense brush I have had that I need to spend much more time on the cleaning process. It always seems clean but I guess there could be some residue deep inside the knot.

Also perhaps because of the density of the brush I might try using it every other day to ensure that it is fully dry before using it again.

On the plus side things do seem to be improving and hopefully this issue has been resolved.

After the initial break in no quality brush should shed but a hair or two every now and then (more then). Whether you use it every day or not should not matter. If you don't clean it up after use thoroughly you might start to get broken hairs and loose hairs after a couple years however absent real abuse like to cleaning in harsh materials or using boiling water it simply should not shed at that point.

Maybe if you baby it you are putting a problem to rest for now which may raise it's ugly head a year or two from now when it's too late to do anything about it.
