This is still the un-used pic. I did get a chance to give it a try last night. Soaked in warm water for 5min. Put a touch of shampoo in my brush cup with the warm water and worked the brush in the cup working up the shampoo into suds and rinced. Put back in tue cup and worked up the shampoo again, rinced. Did this 4 times and the smell was next to gone. Ready for the first use.

Put brush back in the cup after rincing cup out and added some warm water. Took a shower then broke out the MDC. Brush brought up a nice lather on my face without needed a lot of soap (just as it should). I had the knot set 2mm less than what they recommended as i like a scrubby brush. Ive found my older brushes loose there backbone kinda quickly after a month of use or so.

Nice shave, brush tips were a bit prickly. Well, its new. So finshed up and cleaned up and all was well. My cheeks were a little sinsitive afterwords. Got up this morning and my cheeks are red and irritated. Guess its a bit more prickly than im used too. I think ill need to bowl lather for the first week to help break in the bristles but im thinking this is a good solid brush. Lots of backbone, good size for me (26mm) and im going to be happy. After i break it in some.

Thanks to all who pointed me in the direction of this brush.

BTW, i normally use cheap boar knots as i find badger to be too soft.

I irritated my face the first time I used my SOC 2 band brush by leaning on it too hard. It is just fine now that it is broken in.

From the threads I have read mentioning the DO1 knot it takes a bit to break it in. I just would not lean on the brush too hard till it does.

The regular 2 band silvertip Shavemacs that I have needed no break in and the tips were soft from the get go with enough backbone for hard soap pucks. That is the difference between the DO1 2 band silvertip and the regular 2 band silvertip from Shavemac as far as I can tell.

My 22mm D01 took 20+ shaves to resemble a broken in brush. 2 years later it is still prickly. A nice brush but not my favorite...

    Congratulations.
The knot should soften up a bit after 20-25 uses or so.
What are the dimensions of the knot?
You'll probably find this knot to have more scrub than any boar brush, unless you get the Zenith 28 x 50mm boar brush. Now, this latter one has the most backbone of any brush I have tried, so far.

This one is 26 X 48mm. I'm just going to bowl lather for a bit. I like stiff bristles. Its just going to take some time before I'm scrubbing my face with it.

Lovely brush. IME with DO-1 two bands they are prickly. That is the whole reason I have two. When it is too prickly for everyone else, it is just right for me.

    New Report.
After two bowl lathers this brush is now to the point I can use it without any issues. The tips are now a bit softer and that's all I needed. Just a bit of the edge taken off.

I do own a Manchurian White knot that has great backbone and very soft tips. I mean like when its wet it feels like a cotton ball on the face. SOFT!!! But, the issue with it is the flow thru. It works up a nice lather but to get the lather out of the bristles you have to squeeze it out. I don't like the idea of smashing the knot to get the lather out. Or squeezing it out. Don't get me wrong, its a great brush and i use it every time I get to aggressive in my shave and use to much pressure as its so damn soft. But just not exactly what I want in a brush.
I'm hoping this D01 will be my Holly Grail of brushes. I've only bought 9 brushes so far so if it is, I'd be getting off cheaper than some guys. Ha.

Congratulations on the softening of the knot as quickly as it did and I hope you enjoy the brush.

Thanks you. Its still a bit stiff but seable now for face lathering. Couple more days and i think it will be perfect.
