returned sheddee
bought a new brush, a Simpson Duke #2, and it turned out to be a shedder. Tried the shampoo treatment which, for a while, slowed the shedding. Within a few uses, however, the shedding was as bad as ever. So I contacted the vendor, West Coast Shaving, who within a few days of the return of the offending brush sent me a new one, post paid. WCS rocks. Very friendly and attentive customer service.

If you find a starving dog and feed him he will not bite you. This is the principle difference between dogs and men.

So how did the replacement turn out? No more shedding?

When I get a new quality brush I use it for two weeks straight before rotating it out. Recently got a Savile Row and a stubby Shavemac and put them through the same routine. They worked out fine. OTOH, I got a VP Leon Hardy some time back, it shed, swapped it, second shed, and am now having to deal with the manufacturer in Germany to swap it out. Good news is they have agreed to make good. Just waiting now.
No picture of the Shavemac.A little advice: Don't impede an 80,000 lbs. 18 wheeler tanker carrying hazardous chemicals.

Shedding can happen to any brush.

That might well be, but it might also be that some brush manufacturers employ more of those wokers who “have occasional off days” than others.
Based on my own experience* and various reports that I remember so far
Vulifix and Simpson seem to have quite a few,
Thäter might have one,
Shavemac and Mühle seem to have none.

* I own at least two brushes of each of the above manufacturers with the exception of Simpson where too many reports of shedding made me stay away so far.
