I think the difference between the Boss and a good badger sensation wise is that the synthetic is a utilitarian brush and that is the way it feels. All business. The badger just gives a more luxurious feel to it.

Thanked: 315Thanks for the write-up Obie. I've been interested in synthetics, but don't have one yet. I used my Dad's once, but it was a bargain store brush and it too much like a mop. I know it was not representative of the nicer brushes though.
I would like to try a denser brush and the synthetics seem like an economic option. I have two brushes right now and the first is pretty much retired since I tried the second one.- Joshua

I may be the biggest proponent of synthetics for beginners and I still have a lot of love for synthetic knots, despite the fact that my two Silvertip badgers have been getting the most attention as of late. I've been itching to try a few of the newer synthetic knots and I just ordered a SilkSmoke from APShaveCo. I decided to have it mounted in Andrew's new uBrush system, which if I like it, might just cause the number of synthetic knots in my shave den to multiply rapidly.
Maybe its time to update the Synthetic Brush Shootout.Last edited by GreenRipper; 06-12-2018 at 09:56 PM.
