    Default Moss Scuttle, again...

Just finished my third shave using the Moss Scuttle from Sara Bonnyman, waaaaay up in Nova Scotia. The thing is great! It's pretty easy to use, and that warm lather is, I'm afraid, addictive! Mind, it takes a little more messing about, especially if you're using shaving soap instead of one of the creams, but still, if any of y'all are considering getting one, I'd say go for it!

    peace,

    Default Moss Scuttle

Just received mine (Waterfall motif/pattern) today and I must to say, I'm very-very impressed! Must remind myself to send a thank-you to Sara...

Alas I'm still -anxiously- waiting for my razor but once it gets here I tell ya's my first shave is going to be a beauty! ;-)

    Thanks in advance,
    -D. Levesque

I've been thinking of getting one, but unsure as to the size to order - the small one looks, well, rather small and I've read a few people posting about how they make the lather in a separate bowl and then transfer it to the scuttle. I was hoping that if I got her larger scuttle I could use it both to whip up and then store the lather. anyone who's used them have some advice on this? I'd prefer not to have to use bowl + scuttle.

I got the smaller scuttle, which turns out to be just the right size for the boar bristle brush (Vulfix V/S5) that I prefer. My impression is that the guys who've sprung for the larger badger brushes like the larger scuttle.

Looks like I'll be investing in one of these pretty soon. The scuttle and then a few more brushes. Oh, and a couple more razors. A new strop. Then maybe another scuttle... I think I have a problem.

Well, I have a Vulfix 403 "Mayfair", and it seems like one of the smaller ones (comparatively), so maybe a small scuttle would be OK.

I have the large scuttle and a very large Vulfix....some lather slops around, but it works fine...and the warm lather on the face is intoxicating.
