Cheap brush,Nice handle
Besides collecting razors, I also turn wood. I've always given that "Gee I wish I could afford one of those" looks at the "OH MY GAWD" priced Badger hair brushes with the really nice custom turned handles I see on EBay. Started thinkin about making "Custom Handled" brushes with out the Badger. That is a brush made out of plain old Oink, Oink boar bristle, but with a really nice custom handle made out of some wood not found in your back yard. Kind of a working mans brush. Affordable, but looks just as nice as the "I can't tell the wife about this one".
I've posted attachments of two of the brushes I've turned handles for to get some feed back as to whether it's a worth while endeavor. These brushes started as normal off the shelf stock at Walgreens. One has a Bocote handle, the other has a Zebrawood handle. I'll never make exactly the same handle twice. If I put em up for auction on EBay you can be assured that you would be bidding on something unique. (Except for the Oink,Oink part of course.))
Let me know what you think.
See ya

Thanked: 9Man,
with such mad skills - buy badger knots and put them it. Dump the boar. These brushes will be in the "I can't tell my wife" category
Cheers

I'm a boar brush fan. I'll be keeping an eye out for these if they go on ebay. What's your ebay handle gonna be? Of course, I should just be able to spot the brushes.

Ok, Boar and Badger brushes it is.
Looks like there is enough interest to go both ways with this so I will. I'll need a little time to order some knots and really cool wood. I'll put them up on EBay as soon as I can get a few finished. A starting bid will never exceed initial material cost. By the way, they are finished with top notch Spar Urethane, and the knots are glued with the best epoxy I could find.
My handle on EBay is BigEd645. Never a handling charge(if your like me you get handled quite enough) ;o) Never more postage than it takes to get it to you.
I do this for fun,and I want everyone to be satisfied and happy with what they get.
Thanks for the feedback guys.
See ya

They are very nice looking brushes my friend. I would also like to applaud you on being a man's man with cost and handling charges. Yes there is a lot of that around and you are doing this because you enjoy the making, that is GREAT! I can assure you that people from this form will be loyal and if they need a new brush or want a nice looking one you create it will be snatched up quickly.
Hope it all goes well and keep on spinning that wood.
