I have found several Yaqi brushes at 25/52. They are just lovely. The plisson Evolution is a 12, which sets the knot at 22mm; however, the loft will climb probably to about 57mm. It's not ideal for me, but I still like to try it if the tips are silky soft.
Yes, I am the same when it comes to knot sizes for both 2 band badger and synthetic knot sizes and lofts. That is why I had the Muhle STF XL knot re set lower. I don't mind silky smooth tips but the knot must still have some backbone to it.

If I were to buy another synthetic I would seriously consider a Yaqi brush in the size to loft proportions I like. I have a feeling the loft on the Plisson Evolution is too high for the knot size for me and considering the price I am not inclined to take a chance and find out I was right. I have the Plisson/Cade L'Occitane that fits that bill already.

Bob, I believe you would like one of the older Simpsons' Chubby 2 synthetic Badger brushes as they have fantastic backbone with extremely soft tips, but a very pronounced presence, on the face.
I have a few and they are superb for my head shaves, but nothing will ever compare to my large 2-Band badger brushes. There is nothing like natural fibres when it comes to face-lathering, in my opinion.

Yes, you are absolutely correct about the Simpson synthetics. I had a Chubby 2 synthetic and now have a Classic 1 synthetic as a sometime travel brush.

Yes, 2 band badgers are lovely also for face lathering but I seem to be gravitating back to well broke in Omega boar brushes for face lathering. Closing the circle I guess.

At one time I had a Simpson Chubby 2 synthetic and for some reason let it go. The brush had a dense knot, solid backbone, and the splay was minimal. I did not give it long enough, if I recall. Another one on the way.

Simpson also has the Duke 3 in the synthetic knot. The knot is at 53mm and the loft around 47mm. The brush intrigues me.

Still, the Plisson also intrigues me, despite its perceived drawbacks for me in the high loft.
