Default Da Thing is Loose but she Donna fall out.

How many of you have had a brush where you notice the business end seems to be loose. No you can't rotate it but you can feel it's a tad loose.

If you did, do you live with it or remove the hair and repair it.

I have a Plisson like that. It's been that way for over a year.

Can't say I have, maybe wrap some wax paper around the knot, slide it down into the handle just a bit, add a drop of CA here n there, then remove the wax paper.

Or...leave as is till it falls out, then epoxy it back in.

As long as it works, I leave it. A little rattling doesn't bother me, but if it bugs you, remove the knot and re-glue it.

I've had a couple like that. Normally I would just pull the knot out and reglue with epoxy. What's holding you back Spendur?
As the time passes, so we learn.

I like the "if it works don't mess with it" school of thought. It rattles a bit but is still tight enough it won't fall out or move at all in the handle so I'm inclined to let it be.

I was more curious if this was a common event many have experienced. Usually you hear about knots being so loose they rotate in the handles.

I have a horse hair "Hardright" thats over 100yrs old (i think) that still has life left in it.. Unfortunetly the wood handle is loose to where it feels it would come out.. Dont want to risk i would break the handle so it sits in my shave cabinet as a great time piece instead.. Name: 20190225_205138.jpg

Had same issue with a Plisson HMW horn. Sent it back to them and they fixed it free of charge + plus they changed the old stickers and polished the handle (after asking me first). Great factory service but I realise this is easier if you live in Europe....
