Thanked: 1081Simpsons Chubby 2 vs Meseto Shaving
I've had my Simpsons Chubby 2 Manchurian for a few weeks now so I'd thought I'd do a side by side comparison.
A point to make is that they are two different types of bristle but as the Maseto is based on the Chubby design I thought I'd post my thoughts anyway.
Both are great brushes with about the same dimensions but feel very different to each other, the Chubby is far denser and provides much more of a face feel with scrub and surprisingly a little scritch, the Maseto on the other hand is more in line with a Thater, moderate density and backbone and softer, I believe the Manchurian will soften with time, my Duke Manchurian is about the perfect brush for me and that took a month or two to break in so I daresay the Chubby will too.
Now I can't not mention price. The Maseto was £50 and represents fantastic value for money, the Simpsons is about 4 times the price is it 4 times the brush? No not at all but to me you are paying for a handmade brush from Great Britain not in some back street sweat shop in China, the quality of the build is better and I would assume the consistency of quality would be better.
If I could only have the one brush it would be the Chubby but I could easily use the Maseto exclusively, it is a great brush at a great price. All in all it comes down to available funds.Last edited by markbignosekelly; 03-25-2021 at 08:15 PM. Reason: Stupid phone, stupid fat fingers

Thanked: 3225Have to agree with what you have said and in particular the difference in price and why it is there. Most people are comparison shoppers looking for the best value for their money spent. China figured that out a long time ago and realised they were in a position to become the dominate centre of manufacturing consumer goods to the world. Western consumers went for it and now China is dominate. We western world consumers shot ourselves in the foot and help gut the middle classes in the west. Sorry for the rant.

Thanked: 1081Yep, China have exploited our lust for mass consumerism, why pay far more for something that does the same thing? Thing is I can’t deny that the Maseto is a well made brush, I also can’t say that it will last a lifetime but I’ve had it a few years and it’s still in perfect condition.

Of course you would have to analyze the resin to see what it contains and the hair too. None of that might affect the performance but it could make it cheaper to make.
Some day there will be an accounting for giving up our manufacturing to China. We already had one with PPE. There will be more to come.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
