Thanked: 1Thater 4125 density
Hello gents,
I'm thinking about buying a Thater 4125/3.
Could someone tell how they are for density compared to simpsons chubby 2 best badger or shavemac Do1 three band. Also what is densest Thater 4125 three band or two band.
Thank you

Thanked: 1081The Simpsons chubby 2 will be far denser than the Thater. Thaters are fantastic brushes, very soft, nice amount of backbone with relative density.
One thing to remember is different bristles have different characteristics which affects the outcome of how the brush is made. Three band has a thinner shaft than 2 band which means manufacturers will have to use more bristles to make up the same backbone as two band creating a far denser brush. Depending on your preference this can be a good thing or bad thing as a brush that is too dense can be a big of a lather hog. Three band has generally softer tips than two band so that’s another thing to take into consideration.
As a face latherer I personally I like 2 band.

I have a couple of chubby's and one of the things I've learned aside from the business end is these short brushes tend to get messy. The soap runs down them and onto your hands and they can get very slippery. I stick with longer shafts these days.

I do the same.
My brushes are medium to long handled. If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Thanked: 49I had a thater 2 band. I didnt like it, it was scritchy imo. Just so you know I use a boar brush exclusively and the broken in boar feels softer. JMO.

I can only compare what i have and i do not own a Simpson . I mainly use a Thater 26mm 2 Band. Very dense , with zero scritch. My Plisson HMW is ultra soft.
