Not so much, IMO. Good scritchy action. Not so much lather retention as a Badger, but quite enough.
Sometimes going back to the well is necessary with horse, boar, and synthetics, FME. Depends!

I have some horse brushes, both mane hair and tail hair, both brown and white and I use them once every 2-3 months. They cannot beat the boar brushes, but always better from the badgers. I know, you all disagree

I got a few horse hairs, I use them for detailing my motorcycles, and cleaning guns

    Yup. I do too!
Seems the part of the horse's hair used makes the diff.
I always suspected the sweet spot is somewhere north on the tail.

Likely why they smell like shit when they arrive. At least mine did.

The small Omega is great for all shaving soaps and creams. It is well broken in and I’ve had it so long that I don’t remember if it smelled bad when I got it.

I bought the larger Fendrihan on a whim thinking “bigger is better”. It sure looks like an Omega on steroids. I find the bristles get quite floppy when wet and that makes it difficult to lather.

I bought the long handled Omega to whip up lather in a deep shaving mug. It does what it’s supposed to. Functional, but not spectacular.

I have synthetic bristle brushes I love and others that are too soft for me. Same with the badgers I own. Don’t own any horse hair brushes and don’t really feel the need to get one.

I haven’t played around with enough variations of bristle loft, diameter, scritchiness, etc that I can just look at a brush and its specs and tell in advance if I’m going to like it. I pick a brush and see how it makes lather with the soap/cream I’ve chosen that day. If it’s good, I go with it. If it isn’t, I try a different brush.

I have 7 Omega Boar brushes, 5 are standard and two are big boys.

I have two synthetics, one of them I won in the giveaway last December so thank you to the donor.

    I have two Badgers.

I love the boar brushes to bits and I like my skull synthetic especially as it goes really well with my Blackbeard shaving soap.

The Badger brushes don't do much for me because I like something a bit stiffer.
I haven't experienced a bad boar yet and the bristles haven't started falling out either so I'm pleased with them, especially as I chose them from amazon pretty much only to try and get a different colour for each soap.

I love horsehair brushes. I have some big ones made in Brazil. There is nothing better for brushing my shoes.

These are my dear horse brushes. All custom made, all big boys with 30mm knot.

First two made by Italian artists, the third one from a Belgian artist.
First with femoral bone handle. Second with dear horn handle. Third with wood handle. First two are heavy brushes, the third is lighter.
