Hi I found this on a bric-Ã-brac for 5 euro nickel-plated brass handle.
But is it a badger or pork bristle?

my guess would be that it's bristle. The hair looks a little course for badger.. Might still be a good useful brush though, some bristle is very soft.

Yep...its pork. Soak it in a bit of warm water, before use.
Just the tip, too the black line needs soaked, not the whole brush.

I agree. The hairs look a little course. Clean it up and give it a go.
It's just Sharpening, right?

It looks like badger to me. Maybe very well worn and ratty looking. But I wouldn't bet on it.

Cut a hair in the middle. If it has a holed center then it is badger.
A pork hair will be solidIf you don't care where you are, you are not lost.
