My following opinion is just my preference. I am a preferrer of economical shave over excessive luxury, especially with soaps and creams in hard water(hint proraso over trumpers(waste of time in hard water)).
I bought a trumpers super badger brush with a fairly good knot size in june(sorry I dont' have a ruler to measure). I bought it at the beginning of summer to replace a small pure badger brush. I spent my summer with a vey hard water supply, and found that the brush was useless as it could use about 1/20th of a pot in 1 shave. Is this the rule with larger super brushes? I find I get a very dry lather and then add water to try to get the best foam, then the water soaks so far up the brush that it absorbs all the lather, meaning more cream is needed.
I think that I can only make great lather if I want to make lather for 4 people due to how much water my brush soaks up with just the slightest touch of water.(with huge waste of lather. I usually end up with 3 shaves worth of lather)
Anybody got solutions to soap waste with a large brush, or should i forego the luxury of a huge brush for the economic size.
Ps. now I am back with ok water(1st day though} so I am unsure of the soap usage with the huge brush in a good water supply so maybe I will check back with how it was. either way I wish i still had my cheap pure brush as it created economic lather with almost no waste.
Any how maybe this brush will be up for sale/trade soon(Did I make a good case for it?(Its a very personal brush I think) Any offers for a large faux tortoise shell trumpers super badger brush(PM's if interested)
