Default Me New First Badger Brush!!

I had been shopping around for a badger brush for quite some time. This was to be my first foray into the world of badger brushes and as such, I wanted to be absolutely sure that whatever brush I bought would be a worthy investment. I spent quite some time carefully analyzing and identifying the characteristics I was looking for and looking at the options. After spending some time talking with Bernd Blos, I finally settled on a Shavemac.

Well, today is the day! I've finally got my greedy little hands on my brand new custom Shavemac and I must say I am THOROUGHLY impressed!

This brush set me back a bargain $87 + $14 S/H. So let's take a look at what that gets you. As requested, it has a 21mm handmade Silver Tip knot, a 50 mm bristle loft (I had actually requested 45mm but I think this will do just fine) and a 60mm handle. The brush as a whole stands 110mm high. This brush is all business! A regular lean, mean, soap-lathering machine. Soft tips and springy shafts, just like you dream of. The knot is dense and luxurious. I now understand why everyone rants and raves about badger brushes.

The handle was the main reasoning behind buying this brush. It's a modern looking handle with crisp, sleek lines. It might lack the character of the more traditional handle designs, but it is terribly ergonomic, which is what I wanted. The tapered design fits my hand like a glove and gives me a comfortable grip and alleviates finger fatigue from gripping a large handle. It's a case of function meets form. Both good-looking and functional, and really, what more could you ask for?

I was originally looking for something along the lines of the long-handled Shavemac 434 (in terms of the handle, not knot size), but this brush, even though it isn't a long-handle, still provides good leverage for easy whipping.

It is made of a solid plastic that isn't overly heavy, but has a nice weight to it. Just enough to make you realize you've got something worthy of being caressed against you face. It is leaps and bounds above and beyond the quality of my omega brush and absolutely exudes first-rate quality craftsmanship. The proportions of bristle height to handle height are flat out perfect and it is really a joy to look at!

You definitely get your moneys worth for shipping. Fedex claims they tried to deliver this brush Oct 3 (the brush was shipped Oct 2) but I call BS...I was sitting at home waiting for the delivery and didn't have sight or sound of the Fedex guy. So for $14 you get next day shipping from Germany...not too shabby at all!

Now, it just so happens that this brush has exceeded all my expectations and I didn't have to compromise any one particular aspect. In my opinion, this brush is a great value and worth every cent! I am uber happy that I went with a Shavemac.

Long story short...I can't possibly imagine I will be buying another brush for QUITE some time! First-rate craftsmanship, first-rate service, first-rate price...all around first-rate!

I give it my seal of approval.

    And now for the pictures...

Looks like a great purchase! I love my Shavemac but wish I had gone for the Finest instead of Pure. I think yours is a finest, right? I think you'll be very happy!
