How many bowls, mugs, etc, should one really; have, need, or require? As of this juncture,I'm using a mediumd sized mug that probably goes back to the 40s.I recently purchased a ceramic bowl, but haven't started to use it yet.
    Any suggestions?

very much depends on one's views on mugs.

i think one needs 0 (lather on face), but one usually wants as many as he can get a hold of (or afford). with the exception of those who may get so attached to one or few of their mugs that they view any other mug as inferior and thus completely unnecessary.

so... how many do you want and how many do you think you can get by with before drastic and irreversible changes to your life begin to happen....

Well at the moment I have but one shave bowl, one shave mug, and one tin meassure that doubles as my cream bowl. I do want more/better bowls and such but I have to make due. I'm more addicted to the blades than the other bits for shaving... I only have one brush as I have yet to find another brush I like enough to spend the money for.

    RAD take me away

Since you only need one mug or bowl to build lather in, I'll assume the balance of your question is regarding storage. What you need will depend on what you buy. Many soaps come in their own storage container. Refills do not. I use ZipLoc XS round bowl (more of a plastic type but microwave safe) and Anchor Hocking pyrex bowls. Both are available at WalMart. Below are pics of both. The Anchor Hocking bowl is in an old SOTD pic. The Anchor Hocking bowls look much nicer and are a bit more expensive. Both bowls work just fine and come with their own lids.

Now that is some serious SAD

Seriously though, I have two mugs, both of them nice, and swtich out between the soaps I have. Although I keep mine in ziploc bags, I think I just might start putting them in the above pictured bowls for stackability.

The pic only contains what was convenient to pull out from storage. There are way too many more. And then there are the shaving creams...
