Thanks to Spazola (Charlie) who presented me with a new handle for my Omega Proraso Boar Brush at the Dallas Meetup this past Saturday!
I cut apart the old hollow handle and epoxied it into this huge and beautiful hand crafted handle. Wow, what a difference - at over 6" tall it is a real beaut. Thanks Charlie!Last edited by Dewey; 01-22-2008 at 01:22 AM.

Thanks. The credit's gotta go to Charlie, though. The handle is awesome for copious quantities of cream without covering your hand with the stuff.

The chrome ring on the handle looks cool.
Thanks for the kind words about the handle.
Here is a pic of my favorite boar brush handle. It is short and scrubby, perfect for face lathering. I enjoy a fine badger brush, but I also like scrubby effect of the boar hair.

Very cool brush.
I'm finding that my Omega boar brush gets more use than my two beloved Shavemacs. The quality of the Shavemacs is top notch, but the boar brush just works so darn well for the D.R. Harris triple-milled soap I'm using right now. And what surprised me is that it feels every bit as soft on my face as the badger brushes do.

Spaz - Wow that is a chubby! Looks cool. BTW - what kind of wood was used for these handles? Mine is really heavy and nice. The wood that I have a brick of for you is called Mopani - heavy as hell and hardness to match.
Josh - It's amazing that a $10 brush can do so well against those $100 jobbies. Lots of guys won't try the Omegas because the bristles feel so stiff when they're dry. When hot, wet and splayed on your face, they feel really good (oops - no double entendre intended). For the money, they're amazing. And yes, I still love my Simpson and Shavemac, too. Compared to my Vulfix, I say save the money and go with the boar.
