Building Lather in a Scuttle
I have used my Moss Scuttle a couple of times now and I do love the warm lather.
Do you make your lather in the scuttle or in another vessel and then transfer it? Does the heat tend to make for thinner lather or does it matter?
Thanks!

Thanked: 4942If a soap, I make the lather in the mug holding the soap. If a creme, I use a little horn bowl or my hand. In both cases, after the suds are made, I put the brush into the scuttle and it has been awesome!

I use an antique Victorian scuttle. It has holes in the bottom so I make lather, be it soap or cream, in a small bowl then transfer. How did I ever shave before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a small Moss scuttle. I use creams only, and build a lather in a lather mug. When it's the right consistency I splay the brush out in the bottom of the mug and with one scoop get pretty much all the lather onto the brush. Then I pop that straight into the scuttle, extra lather and all. Warm lather to the end of the shave. I find the only hassle is washing out two receptacles instead of one, but that's hardly a big thing in the grand scheme of shaving!
