    Thanks guys.

BillS, The finish is 5-6 coats of salad bowl gloss finish. After that is dry (a couple days) I put it back on the lathe and sand from 400 up to 2000, wax and buff. When dry, it is a non-toxic finish.
I try to keep them thick and put an anti-slip bottom on them so with the weight of the bowl and botttom, you can build lather with one hand. To think that another season or two on the wood pile, this piece would have turned to rot (or burnt).

Hot damn, amazing work on the bowl. Can't wait so see some of your stuff on the market here.

    But, more importantly:

    Lol. "Stubby Chubby".

That is some beautiful work on that bowl. The finish will allow repeated exposure to water/humid environments eh?

Indeed, it is wonderful work. I'm glad to see that you rescued it from the fates.
Why is there such a marked difference in the look of the brush and the bowl?
THe bowl has the black squiggly lines and the brush doesn't

The brush wood was from the center of the log where rot (spalting) hadn't quite got to it yet. I do wish I could have found another piece or used this one differently to get more line into the brush. It is indeed from the same log though.

The Missus liked the size of the brush so much that she took both bowl and brush for her shaving needs. At least I know my STR8's are safe. No way will she try those she said. As for the bowl she says I can't sell a nearly rotten bowl.

I do intend to try and market a few of these along with some razors that have matching scales. Working things out with scale guys and such to get a complete set.

    Thanks for the compliments.
