Thanked: 24Small Rooney
Good Evening One and All....
About 15 days ago I purchased a small Rooney super badger. Is it customary for the bristles to come out of the brush or will this stop as soon as the brush has been used for a while? Would appreciate your
input. Thanks.......

I suppose the question is how many hairs are you losing. Most of my brushes have had some loss. A couple have had a lot of loss. One had severe loss. The only on that didn't stop was the severe.
The one with severe loss was a simpson chubby 1. Despite it being a really densely packed brush, I sent it out for replacement. I had lost literally hundreds of hairs at that point. Unless you have lost a ton of hair, i would give it 30 shaves.

I have several brushes, the normal hair loss I have seen on mine is 5 or less hairs lost per new brush...usually lost within the first couple weeks....then the loss should stop.
I have only had one brush that had excessive hair loss and the seller was kind enough to replace it as a warranty replacement.
Usually once the brush is broken in and all hairs that were not securely set in the knot and epoxy work themselves loose the hair-loss stops.....if it continues and is excessive I would contact the seller and ask for a replacement.
Hope that helps.

Being one with several acquistion disorders, brush accrual being certainly among them, I have a couple/several brushes. Even among my cheap brushes, I can't remember losing more than one or two hairs on any brush - ever. And this is among Conks, Rooneys, Shavemacs, and Savile Rows and a couple etceteras (although in checking the spelling of Savile on the brush handle, I noticed one loose hair, so this may make 3 for that brush).
If you are losing more than a couple of hairs and this is a regular occurance, I'd contemplate checking with the seller to see what their policy is regarding shedding and warranty replacement. (You're not vigorously wringing out the last droplets of water, are you?)
Good luck

Thanked: 15I have the Rooney Style 1 Size 1 (small). To date this brush has not lost a single hair. I think I have just been lucky as I would normally expect a brush to loose 4 or 5.

I agree with most of what's been said. Its not unusual for a brush to lose a "few" bristles for the first week or so of use. But it should stop after that. I have a Rooney 1/1 from Jim at VintageBlades. I think it lost 2-3 bristles the first couple of uses, but none since.
