    Default My first Scuttle

My search for a scuttle started with the thread about why is a scuttle necessary. I was having the problem of cool lather because I've been using pre-whipped cream from T&H...Ultimate Comfort. It was only warm on the first pass when using my red bowl that some of you may have seen in my posts. After reading what a scuttle is and does, I found this unused Cobalt and Blue Georgetown Pottery Scuttle on eBay. I am quite happy...Warm lather....AAAHHHHH

I just ordered one direct from the company that makes them. I think they changed the design a little after that model you got, but either way it looks great. Grats on the buy!

I should also add that on another forum I found when looking for scuttles (which is how I found out about the one I ordered today) they said that the company will work with you to do custom jobs. I didn't have the patience to order a custom job at the moment, but if i like the scuttle I'll probably give it to my dad as a gift when i get my custom one made.

Their scuttle is 42 dollars plus 11 S&H.

    Their phone number is 866-936-7687
    Their email is GPOTTERY@GWI.NET

Tom, nice grab! I have a GTP scuttle and love it. There's nothing like warm lather on multiple passes. Enjoy!

Ash, does your avatar mean that you're the one that snagged the design by Don Joe Chandler? That's a very nice razor.

Back on topic, Tom, I really like the cobalt and blue pattern on yours. Some don't seem to have as much variation. Good stuff!

Nah, I just thought it was an exceptionally good looking razor. I wish I did own it.

Now as I impatiently wait for my scuttle to arrive, I have a question for you all. How do I use it with a cake of shaving soap? In the past I've just kept the soap in a tub and get the brush a bit soapy then lather on my face. And back when I had some cream (truefitt and hill 1805, decent stuff) I just used my brush to get a dab and lathered in my hand.

I'm really tempted to order a few different types of Mama Bear soap and also some of Colleen's (they all sound very nice!) and just want to make sure the soap will work in the scuttle.

just do as you used to, except instead of lathering on your face lather in the bowl. I geuss you could face lather and just leave the brush in scuttle but thats no fun now is it? I dont reccomend leaving soap in scuttles, expecially good soap, it runs out fast and can dry out from the heat. Have fun!

I dont have a scuttle btw...but now i want one...

    Casey,
I almost bought the Persimon one from the website, but saw this on online. It was $30 plus shipping...so a little discount. I love Chinese watercolor painting, so the finish really catches my eye.

I was going to ask the same thing. That is one sweet razor.
