    Default GP scuttle water capacity

My GP came today--Ivory & Green Oribe. Shaved this morning, so I'll have to wait till tomorrow to do a proper shave test. Tried lathering in it & the ridges really do help.

Here's the weird part: I measured the inner jacket water capacity & it was only about 2 oz! Is this normal, or is mine warped? It seems to work fine for warm lather, but if the capacity should be more...

I was also surprised at how little water mine held but since they are custom made each one is probably different.

Mine holds 5 oz. or for you metric fans 150 mL. to completely fill the inner bowl.

2 oz seems a little light...if I were you I'd call them and ask about it. They have awesome customer service and I'm sure they would make it right if it's not correct.

If you do call ask them what the "normal" capacity should be and post it.

That I will do--and I'll post the "average" here.

Yeah, 5 oz. is more like what I was expecting it to hold. I guess the only negative would be going back to no-ridges for a few weeks while they fix it--did I mention how much easier they make lather-building?

Called this morning: the normal water jacket capacity for a V3 GP scuttle is ~6 oz.

As far as my capacity goes, they thought it was probably the glaze dripping into the jacket. I can sort of see it if I hold the spout up to the light.

The great part is, they're sending UPS to come pick up the old one, & they're shipping a new one out! Should have it by the end of next week. Lori said she'd even test the water cap. just to be sure.
Customer service from these guys is excellent! I'd recommend buying from them for that reason alone!

She also said they're working on another scuttle design w/ a smaller bowl & bigger reservoir, probably something like a Moss that should be out sometime this coming winter.

Oh great...the good news is mine isn't THAT far off...the bad news is I'll probably be buying another.

And for those of you who missed my post about "customizing" your GP they will make one in any of their standard patterns at no extra charge!

Hmm, wouldn't hurt to have another as a spare or "travel scuttle", come to think of it.

I have three GP scuttles. I just measured the inner jacket capacity on them. One was 3.475 oz, another was 1.2 liters and the third measured green strasten frop. I think I may have done something wrong. I tried it again and found the inner water jacket on the second floom has expended and is now thrice more voluminous as the vessel itself. Oh no! I see the cows have come home. What can this mean? Crap.

Apropos of completely nothing, nice brushes in those shaving sets of yours! You sell any alone?

I love my GP scuttle too but was a bit bummed about the volume of water. More volume would certainly help it keep warm longer.

I'd love to see the new design with more water volume but I'd hate to see a tiny bowl as a trade off. The bowl size on the current scuttle is perfect.

What this usually means for me is to put the razor down and back away slowly. That way you don't wake up the next day with not only a bad hangover but a couple fingers, a toe, and part of your ear missing.

Don't ask me how I know that!
