Is there a reason for this price difference?
Is there a reason for the price difference between these two brushes. Both are silvertip.
Merkur Futur Silvertip Badger Hair Shave Brush - Men's Biz
vs.
Dovo Silvertip Badger Hair Shave Brush - Men's Biz
Is it just a styling and brand name difference? Or a quality difference?
Also why is the Merkur brush I linked to cheaper than this Merkur brush.
Merkur Vision Silvertip Badger Hair Shave Brush - Men's Biz
Once again, is it just a styling difference?

Probably the quality of the bristles, the handle... and the brand...
I don't have neither a Merkur nor a Dovo brush so I can't say a thing about their pro and con... sorry... but the only thing I could truly say is that I will never pay 235 bucks for a Dovo brush.
If you are looking for a very good quality silvertip brush... why not looking at a Kent for instance, like the BK4 (GB Kent BK4 Shaving Brush) or the BK 8 (GB Kent BK8 Silvertip Shaving Brush)... or a Rooney, an Edwin Jagger, a shavemac - they are in the same range of price than the Merkur brush and their quality is excellent.

Thanked: 1903Firstly, if you feel you must buy a German brush (excellent idea, by the way) get a Thäter.
Secondly, the Dovo brushes you mention come with matching DEs and stands. While the craftsmanship of the metal bits and pieces is without a match, I do not like their brushes at all. You can get much better quality for the money, but those will not fit into the Vision/Futur stands...

I have the first brush you posted (Merkur brush with the Futur set). I like the handle and the brush has been very good. It has soft bristles which are quite flexible. I purchased it in a set with the Futur razor.
The problem is that you need a particular Merkur stand from which to hang the brush. Would I pay the $130 for the brush and the extra for the stand . . . probably not. I got a nice deal on the set that included the stand, razor and brush. However, you can find better brushes for less money that don't require such a unique stand.
BTW, I would never pay that much money for a Dovo brush. I had one as a part of a straight set I bought a couple of years ago. Eventually had to return the brush due to shedding problems.
