Default Loose fit in base-feature or flaw

I received my first badger brush today.
I've been using a boar for years but he was ready for xmas dinner so I moved on to a brush (que laughter)
Grandma set me up with an Autruche pure badger brush
I noticed a bit of the glue where it attaches to the base was visible and on further inspection I noticed that the brush could rotate about a cm each direction as well as up and down. When shook there is a distinct rattle.

Now Grandma says she noticed this too but that the salesperson said loose fit was a feature to help drainage.

    Are we getting played?

    In a word, yes!

There should be no movement what so ever!

Yep, take it back. I would mention that you have asked some very knowledgeable persons and they agree, no gaps, no movement.

Ha! Grandma should have asked the salesperson to show her a few of the other brushes to see if they had the same special feature. The salesperson is either a moron or a sleaze, either way, someone to avoid in the future.
