So what? The DNA of every species that is geographically segregated is going to diverge. That's one of the ways that speciation occurs. My DNA is also different from each of my siblings. It's just a matter of degree. The conclusion of that paper is that a basic tenet of evolution has been reinforced for the ten thousandth time.

+1 on Utopian's comment. And translated to shaving, which one of the badgers is better for brushes according to your DNA research? ;-)

Well, given that the OP was the one that brought up the issue of how the hair is obtained and also brought up what DNA the badger has, I'd say the OP pretty much made it relevant.

    Rich,

Could you ask this gentleman to supply some pictures of this badger farm? I am afraid that's the only way to deal with the scepticism of many here.

Good point Kees, I have already asked Leon to try to find out more information. If and when more is forthcoming, I will of course publish it here. Happy New Year all!

asian badgers are not likely the source of the hair, if u look at images of native asian badgers they have almost 98% black hair with only flecks of silver or they are brown, so contrary to popular belief, i think that badgers are being farmed (keept inside in cages) using european herritage.

You guys can debate Badger shaving all you want. I'm saving my time and breath and going to find a Beaver to shave.

Home in Norway (at least parts of Norway) Badger is considered a vermin and you get money if you can prove you killed one. You guys might want to collaborate with a hunter and shave off enough for an entire brush-collection.
