I looked into making a handle without a lathe and the best I could come up with was a baluster or chair leg (about $3-8). Alternatively, most hardware stores sell handles for files that may work.

I am making a brush with a silvertip knot, but I will not be using a lathe either... In fact, I dont plan to make it cylindrical at all... maybe you could come up with a design you like that isn't limited to a cylindrical (turned) brush.

The site carried both, I opted for a finest for my first attempt to keep the financial officer, wife, happy. When I can figure out to post a pic, I will. The knot is 22x67mm.

I was thinking maybe something as simple as PVC or copper pipe fittings. Let the creative juices start flowing.

    Thanks all.]
I have a couple old brushes I would like to refurbish and am looking for a supplier of Badger knots. Where did you get your knots?

This question was not directed to me but I get mine at thegoldennib.com.They are good quality and inexpensive. My only knock with them was the packaging. They sent my knots in a padded envelope and they were a bit squashed upon arrival. They worked just fine though.

As was said above, the Golden Nib is a good supplier of inexpensive knots.

Thanks Guys. I have an order in. I have a couple old brushes from an Antique Shop and and old Burma Shave brush that I have drilled out and will bring them to back to life with new Silvertip Knots. I might even try to turn a couple blanks with my brothers lathe.
