Thanked: 2My new Schwarzweisskeramik Scuttle
Well this turned up this week...
Black doesn't photograph so well, well not with my crappy camera in the bathroom just before/during a shave. But let me assure you the finish is spot on!
Needless to say i am more than happy with it!
I gave it a test run tonight and apart from getting the water too hot (lather started drying) to start with, once i got going it was fantastic and kept my lather lovely and warm.
The lather bowl was the perfect size (for my brush at least - sorry its a taylors of old bond street but dont' know the size)
Much praise goes to Oskar for this fine item!Last edited by Greenbeast; 01-29-2009 at 10:20 PM.

Thanked: 278That's a well thought out design.
How long does it stay warm?

Thanked: 2they are much better pics on his website...
Schwarzweisskeramik
It must have been 30 minutes, the brush started to cool but if i quickly re-whipped, it rewarmed the lather on it.
It was my first use, at first it was way too hot then to cool it down i may have gone too far the other way.
It cost £73 with insured delivery to the UK, definitely worth the money though!
If i'm careful it should last a very long time
It weighs about 1kg empty, it is a substantial piece.

Do you fill boiling water in there directly or first fill it with hot tap water to avoid too sudden an increase in temperature? Could a cold scuttle crack if filled with boiling water? - Probably depends what it's made out of.

Thanked: 2oskar recommends filling the whole thing (including lather bowl) with warm/hot tap water to preheat it and then empty and fill the cavity with hotter water
That way you avoid thermal shock, but still get decent heat longevity, also the initially filled lather bowl gives you somewhere to soak your brush
