My new custom shavemac special grade-d01
I recently got this brush from bernd at shavemac.
The knot is grade d01 silvertip, its a lot denser than anything i have seen before, it has a lot of backbone wich i believe comes from the knot being so densly packed....the hair itself is very very soft
Feels really good in the face, i dont know if it is the perfect brush for face lathering because of how dense it is.....but it builds lather in a bowl better than anything else.
The knot dimensions are 22mm by 52mm .
After using it for first time, the brush bloomed tremendously!
The handle is 70 mm in lenght is the same one as the 26mm shavemac brush that goes by the name of "436"
i really like that handle, this one is the same shape and lenght just a little bit thinner to acomodate the 22mm knot.
Over all i am very happy with it , it feels really luxurious, different....i am waiting in the mail for a rooney in finest 1/1 that i think it will complement this brush very well.
I only took some pics before using it, i will post some of it bloomed some other day.
The process of buying directly from shavemac was a really good experience, it took only 10 days from selecting the handle-knot to having the brush at my door step here in california.
I really recomend Bernd!Last edited by SIB; 02-01-2009 at 12:09 AM.

Very nice, Sib. Is the special grade similar to what others might call "finest"?

Hi padron, i havent taken them yet, i will in he next couple of daysand post them, it bloomed like crazy.
Thanks for the comment Jnich, this is the higest grade that shavemac offers, wich i guess would be their "finest" , i t is not however the same as rooneys finest,i understand rooneys finest isa diferent animal, scrubby, springy yet very soft atthe tips.
I dont know if i have answered your question.....i guess there is not such a common ground rule when grading badger, each "house" has their own hair and grade measuring system, i have "silver tips" from 4 different brands, all of them completely diferent in every aspect, from qualitty to the way they behave....
This one seems to me like the hair is thinner than other silvertips , but it is so densly packed that there you go with the backbone.......
SO far i like it, as soon as i use it more times i will be able to make a decent review, construction/qualitty is hands down the best i have seen, no shedding so far in a few uses and itfeels super super solid.
I wont forget about the pics.
