    Default Cleaning the badger.

I only have one brush, and that brush have been used every day for more than a year.I allways rinse my brush thouroughly after each shave.Latly I have found my brush to perform poorer than it used to.It would take much longer time to develop a nice lather. And the hairs felt kind of sticky and stiff. It also had a strong smell of shaving cream/soap.I read somewhere that you should clean the brush at least once a year. The way to do it, is to soak the brush in a glass of hot water with a mild detergent.(The stuff you hand wash fine clothes with.) In Norway its called "Bio tex", thats what I used. The difference was remarkable, allmost good as new! Much softer, and bigger actually.
Only downside was the smell of wet dog

Is the "Badger butt smell" back now when all the artificial smells are washed away?

Sounds like you have soap residue in your brush so either your soap or cream is too thick or your not cleaning it as thoroughly as you think. It should not have a soap smell that's the cue. The stiffness is another hint.

    Kristoffer,

Just take your brush with you in the shower, every month or so, and wash it with a decent hair shampoo. Rinse thoroughly. Your brush will be grateful.

+1 on what Bart says. No need for special creams or solutions. Periodically shampoo your brush (some guys ues conditioner too) and it will be back to near new condition. Remember, your brush is made of hair; you wouldn't let your own hair get full of grime and soap scum, would you?

    Kristoffer

I wash my brushes couple of times in a year with a good quality shampoo. After carefully rinse I add a good quality hair conditioner and let it affect couple of minutes. Another rinse and vigorously shake and back to stand to wait next day's use.
