    Default Size of replacement knot

I just finished removing the old knot from a Simms brush I got off ebay. The hole is about 24 mm across. I assume I should use a 24 mm sized knot as a replacement. Is it just that easy?

It is just that easy. I used a Forstner bit with a drill press to make the hole nice and clean for the knot. A 1" bit should be the one to use. You already have the hole so make sure the depth is right and then glue it in.
