Rubber bowl to wipe off spent lather.
I just found this advertised:

I never saw anything like it before.Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose. Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr.

Actually its available in the USA from Barbieria Italiana , the proprietor is Giovanni Abrate , he is a shaving vendor. I think Gio will be closed until the end of March though. It costs $5 from him and is a convenient little thingy, I use it for every shave.

Wiping bowls go way back, barbers used to use them for straight shaving of clients. Its made of rubber so it has suction to make it sit very stable and solid on a counter. Also unlike a towel which has to be thrown in the dirty clothes , with the bowl you just rinse at the tap and your done.

I don't feel bad...I think a rubber bowl is a little pointless. I use the washcloth to heat up my face, then ring it out and use it to wipe off my blade. Gets multiple uses in one shave and I got a pack of 15 for $10 at costco.
To each his own, I suppose
