Thread: Found a scuttle!

Well, I got myself a scuttle! Thing is Im not really sure whether I like it but maybe I'll be converted once I try it out.



I guess you fill it with hot water, side spout for your brush and a tablet of soap in the top, so presumably I still need to use an extra bowl for making my lather? Im sure Ive read that these are designed to keep the lather warm but I cant see how that would work, am I missing something?

These types of scuttles are great for us face latherers. Hot water in the bottom, soap on top as you expected. I usually fill mine with the hottest water I can get, dip my brush in the spout and drip a bit on top of my soap. Then I stick the brush in there to soak while I brush my teeth. Load up brush, lather on face, lay brush full of soap on top of the soap. Seems to keep the brush and soap pretty warm to me. Here's mine:

I see now that there are two types, I was getting confused with the newer type which is more of a lather warmer. I started off lathering on my face, now I normally build my lather in a bowl but Im open to trying another technique and it gives me an excuse to buy a new tablet of soap

Nice looking scuttle! You got the procedure right. Give it a go and let us know how you like it.

I picked up a scuttle not long ago and found to my shock that the soap is larger than the top of the scuttle and taller than it is deep! So, I'm using the scuttle to keep everything warm and lathering in a bowl.
