Thread: How hot is too hot?

I have a tiger hot water pot which keeps water slightly under boiling for making coffee and tea. But I want to use it for shaving. Is the water too hot for the badger knot?

Dunno, for me if I can't wash my face in it then it is too hot for my brush. I use a Moss Scuttle and tap water and my lather is just right. I don't know how hot the water can be before it might damage a brush.

I find that when my dirty bird scuttle has water that is too hot the lather dries out very fast. I too would worry about the brush. Some of the older ones have glue that disintergrates when wet too long, so very hot wateris probably a no no.

There was a bit in the making of Van Helsing documentary where Kate was in that tight leather outfit that looked more like PVC, and during rehersal she lifted her leg up on to a table to pull a knife out of her boot. She said to the other actors "Do you think I should do this, I don't have to?" and all the guys said "YES, YOU DO, YOU DO!!!" Now that was hot.

Well, there was a guy over on the other forum that said he has been using boiling hot water with his badger brush daily for many many years and nothing bad ever happened to it. Personally, I wouldn't do it and don't see any need to really.

Well, thanks to all the good advice in this thread. And yes, Kate is definitely hot!

I've made my own "Redneck Scuttle." I just stuck two Ikea bowls together. Put the boiling water in the bottom bowl and lather in the top one. Worked great!
