Default Omega Boar Bristle Vs. Kent Visage Bristle?

So, my father's birthday is coming up and I've decided I'm going to pick him up a cheapish brush to store at the hunting camp as he doesn't take his horse hair brush with him and only has a crap synthetic up at the camp. I've narrowed my choices down to the Kent Visage bristle brush(retails in the area for about 30 bucks) or the standard Shoppers Drugmart Omega 18 dollar jobbie.

As he's used to using a fairly good quality horse brush (very little splay, large, tight knot) which do you think he'll be happier with?

Please note, I would have been willing to go low end Badger (I have a Gold Marke Dachs brush I like :P) but as I said, splay is an issue.

    Default Hmmm

Actually, throw the Vulfix VS/5 in to the mix too. :P

I've never used a Vulfix, but the Omega is a stiff, big knotted brush with little splay.

Omega seems like the way to good. Their boar brushes get great reviews and last for years. I would try one out.

Mine has been shedding a hair a day since I started using it more than 3 months ago. I wrote about it to their customer service dept. They told me the boar hair they get these days is not as good as it used to be. They sent me a Syntex to try that makes nicer lather but doesn't have the nice feel of a boar brush.

Weird. That hasn't happened to me, thankfully. Was the shedding so bad where the brush wasn't useful to shave with? I've had some shedding at first, and it was no big deal, but then it stopped.

It is a good brush yet but for how long? My Omega boar before this one lasted 25 years! I doubt whether this one will last that long. It was a top of the range briar wood brush
