Georgetown Pottery Scuttle artwork
I received a Hamada/Persimon GP scuttle about two weeks ago and it looks very much like those pictured on the web site. The upper colors drip down into the lower color. I love warm lather. I am fairly new to the whole wet shaving experience. I think I bought my razor--a Dovo Best Quality with Blond scales--about two months ago. Along with it I bought a short Bismarck hanging strop. I used shaving cream from a can while I waited for the arrival of my online-purchased Vulfix Pure Badger brush and Col. Conk's Bay Rum Soap. After my initial lathering I would hang my brush on its stand. I was surprised at how quickly the lather cooled. The Georgetown Pottery scuttle is large and is therefore useful for creating lather (as when using a cream). There are other scuttles available that incorporate smaller bowls. These would probably keep the brush warmer but would not be large enough for generating lather. I have acquired several shaving soaps and some shaving creams and wanted a vessel that served the dual purposes of warming and whipping. That is why I selected the GP scuttle. Also, I really liked how it looked.
