Default In need of simple brush handle ideas

Hi everyone! Ever since I learned about the Golden Nib, I've been wanting to make my own brush with one of the 24mm and 28mm knots for sale on the site. The only thing that's preventing me from making one is the issue of acquiring a brush handle. I don't have the tools to drill out an old Ever-Ready handle, and I don't have the skills to make my own from a block of wood. Does anyone know of some common items that can be bought at a widely known store (Walmart, Ace Hardware etc.) that can serve as acceptable brush handles? Are there any members of B&B that make brush handles for decent prices? I can put up with doing a little modification to an item if necessary, and I know how to use epoxies. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help!

You don't need a drill to dig out an old knot. I used a heavy duty scissors to cut the bristles down and a relatively sharp flat head screw driver to dig it out. Polished it up with MAAS and put in the new knot. Mine turned out great and I use it every shave.

Otherwise for a more clever idea a member (2sharp maybe?) here used a ornate tequila bottle cork for a handle, looks really cool. I've heard of a lot using corks.

Good luck and make sure you post a picture of whatever you end up doing!

Thanks Michael for the reference to the Aztec God thread. Hello Smity. This is another thread which I made new brushes out of various different handles. http://straightrazorpalace.com/brush...rs-dollar.html There are many things you can make a Badger brush out of. Use your imagination. One of the simplist is an old one that you find in the various Antique Malls around the country. They can be had for $5 or less. I found these last week and will be new Badger Brushes someday when I find the time.
