Do any of you collect Shaving mugs? Can you tell us about your favorite! :roll:

I am trying to collect Old Spice mugs. I guess my favorite is the oldest one: made in the 40s, I think.

I have a few, i like the apothecary style mug, like conk's where it has this knob handle on the side. I will see about getting some old "Seaforth" mugs.

I get a kick out the whole regiment, the razor, the brush, the mug, the whole 9 yards. I think it is all part of the experience. I think a lot of the guys concentrate on the razor and the size of their brush and overlook the mug. I have seen some older mugs that are really great looking. Any thoughts on this? :?

I have had Old Spice mugs, used one as a gift and the other I put too hot water in it and it made that 'tink' sound and cracked. I have an old Seafoth that has an unused soap, so i want to leave it intact. In the Victorian mugs, the occupational ones can be quite interesting, but alot of the other Victorian era mugs are just too foofy with flowers and such on them. I prefer branded type mugs like Burma Shave, Seaforth, Col. Conk, Burt's Bees. I have covered bowls of stainless steel from em's, and a cover bowl from Ray's. I don't have a scuttle, but figure I will ad one soon. There was a cool Guiness scuttle on ebay that I missed out on, Guiness gave as a retirement gift. GUINESS! Way cool!

I wonder if we could get a SRP mug made? Just imagine the arguments trying to get consensus on that!

Just a question regarding scuttle mugs. Does anyone know if they are a single mold design or multiple molds?

I have a couple .....one ftom the university where I work, the other is a nice scuttle from England I snatched on Ebay, with both our flags on it.

I tend to use them IF I am spending a long time formally shaving. Otherwise, I use the Rubbermaid StainShield mugs with my various soaps in them. They travel well, stack well, and won't break if dropped!

I have a beautiful mug from my wifes grandfather very cool with his name on it. I haven't used it in a while I'm afraid I'll break it, Sticking with my scuttle. :shock:

My current collection of bowls, mugs and scuttles have all been found in thrift stores, with
exception for the 3 over-sized coffee cups from K-Mart. Most are just for decoration, like
the Cash Family scuttle, it's just too small and delicate. The Col. Conk scuttle is good for
face lathering, but I like to bowl lather. My improvised scuttles are for my pampered Sunday
shave and they work well to keep the lather hot. The shave mugs are rarely used, I find them
a bit deep for my short handled brushes. When using my Omega 10098 brush, I'll use a mug.
Anyway, here's what I have until my next trip to the flea market or thrift store...

Actual scuttles. Cash Family (hand painted) and a Col. Conk.


Actual shave mugs. Avon Iron Horse (w/leather AS), Old Spice Early Glass 02, Ceramica
Espejo Barbershop, Old Spice Hull Pottery Mug 03, Surrey Brigantine (17).
I used to have a HA milk glass mug, but let it go to the son of a friend.


Improvised scuttles. Soup & Cracker mug w/bowl insert and over-sized coffee mug w/salsa
bowl.



And the rest... An over-sized coffee cup, "Coming Home" coffee cup, USA earthenware bowl
and another textured salsa bowl.
