    Question Badger Brush Going Soft?

I have a standard Badger hair brush from The Art of Shaving (TAOS) and I use it several times a week. At first I was using TAOS Shaving Creme, but then I began using their Shaving Soap instead. After each shave, I rinse/squeeze/rinse the brush under hot water to thoroughly remove all the soap. Then I give the brush a few good shakes to fling out as much water as possible, wipe down the handle, and hang it (bristles pointed down) to dry.

I've had the brush for about a year now and I think the bristles are going soft on me. Is that normal? TIA

I've heard of boar breaking in and getting softer but not badger, silvertip anyway. I don't know about pure badger though. Since pure is pretty stiff it may very well. Maybe someone who owns one will chime in here.

I've got a pure C&E/EJ Pure Badger that has softened up considerably over time. I noticed a marked difference around the 4th month of use. Can't attribute it to any one product in particular but it did happen.

    Hope this helps.

Neo, try keeping a picture of Mayilyn Monroe or some other shapely lady near your brush. That ought to stiffen it right up!

It still lathers up the soap just fine, but it's more difficult to work the lather on my face especially if it's been a few days since I shaved.

Just a thought that might help with working the lather on your face.. If you are not already, try holding the brush around the base of the bristles instead of the handle. This will make the brush more compact and dense and should improve your lathering.
