Default Weird bit of brush history

The odd-looking brush you see here was given to me by a 50-y.o. co-worker. His uncle, who was an inventor, designed these travel brushes which carry shaving cream in the handle. When you twist the butt-end of the handle, it turns a screw mechanism which dispenses a bit of cream into the bristles.

It might have been a good idea except for a couple of design flaws. First was the use of nylon bristles. Second was the lack of a mechanism to squeeze the bristles together so you can get the cap back on. The instructions, which are folded up in the lid, say to use a small rubber band (!)

Anyway, the product flopped so the guy has several hundred of these in a box in his attic.

That is interesting. If instead of a cap he had put a second shell that was threaded in both the open and closed position he could've made it all self contained. In the open position it acts as part of the handle in the closed position it pulls the bristles together and protects them. And yeah needs better bristles, lol.
